Code of Ethics
Transcendent Massage Therapy is dedicated to providing a safe and welcoming space for all individuals seeking our professional services. We recognize the inherent worth and individuality of each person, and our commitment to ethical conduct is guided by the principles set forth by the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA). Our mission is to promote physical, mental, and emotional well-being through massage therapy while making it accessible to everyone.
1. Commitment to Excellence:
We pledge to provide the highest quality massage therapy and bodywork to all individuals who seek our professional services. We will continually strive to enhance our skills, knowledge, and techniques to meet the unique needs of our clients.
2. Respect and Inclusion for All Individuals
We acknowledge and respect the inherent worth and individuality of every person, creating safe, inclusive space and offering the same quality of service regardless of gender, age, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, religion, or other characteristics. We commit to treating all clients and colleagues equitably, kindly, and without discrimination or prejudice.
3. Professional Growth
We demonstrate professional excellence by regularly assessing our strengths, limitations, and effectiveness. We are committed to continuous education and training to provide the best possible care to our clients.
4. Confidentiality
We recognize the confidential nature of our professional relationship with clients and will respect each client's right to privacy. All client information, including personal and medical details, will be kept confidential and disclosed only with the client's informed consent or as required by law.
5. Ethical Business Practices
We will conduct all business and professional activities within our scope of practice and in compliance with the laws and regulations governing massage therapy. We will maintain a professional image in our interactions with clients, colleagues, and the community.
6. Boundaries and Professionalism
We will refrain from engaging in any form of sexual conduct or sexual activities with clients. We understand that maintaining clear boundaries is essential to preserving the trust and safety of our clients and ourselves.
7. Do No Harm
We accept the responsibility to do no harm to the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of ourselves, our clients, and our associates. We will provide safe and effective massage therapy, taking into account the individual needs and limitations of each client.
8. Accessible Wellness
Transcendent Bodyworks is committed to making wellness accessible to all. Services are offered on sliding-scale rates and to the extent possible they are made available to those in the transgender and gender-nonconforming community on a “pay what you can” or donation-only basis, with the request that clients contribute as they are able to ensure that we can continue to offer care and healing to everyone within our community regardless of their present resources.
This Code of Ethics reflects our dedication to maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, ethics, and care in our practice. We commit to upholding these principles in every aspect of our work to create a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for our clients and colleagues.
Policies & Guidelines
Bookings and Cancellations
Booking is done through the bookings page.
While no deposit is currently required to hold your session, please be considerate of how cancellations affect my time, income, and the accessibility of care to others who may be waiting for an opening that fits their needs. Late cancellations limit my ability to rebook, potentially resulting in both lost income and lost opportunity to serve others. If you are able to, please prioritize making changes to your schedule with me with as much notice as possible, so if necessary I can open up your slot to other clients who are waiting to see me.
Behavior
Massage therapy places both the therapist and the client in vulnerable situations in a close setting. It is of utmost importance to maintain a safe, positive environment for both the client and the therapist. No sexual or romantic behavior, advances or inuendo of any kind will be tolerated, nor should any client assume any sexual or romantic intent in any physical contact or communication between us. Any such activity or behavior will result in the session being terminated immediately and without refund.
Clients will always be properly covered while bodywork is being performed, either with sheets (called “draping”) or clothing depending on the type of service. The individual limb or area of the body being worked on may be exposed in an appropriate, safe and professional manner as necessary for the massage. If you as a client feel unsafe or uncomfortable for any reason please inform me immediately so we can resolve the issue and ensure you have the best, most relaxing and restorative experience possible while we are working together.
